What if I have a morning shift the next day and need to book my child in for Before School Care?

Our before-school care bookings close at 12 am so that parents can add in last-minute bookings if needed.

What is the ratio of staff to children?

We care about kids’ safety and so to ensure kids receive the appropriate amount of attention, we have a ratio of 1 staff member:10 children

Are staff trained to handle a variety of situations?

Yes, all our staff are trained in child health and safety, including child protection training and first aid certification.

What if I have to make a booking on the day?

In the case that a parent needs to make an on-the-day booking, there is an extra charge of $1. They can text us at 027 783 1826 to make an on-the-day booking.

If I’ve already booked and paid for a session but cancelled my booking, will I be charged?

We require a 2-day notice for cancellations to be processed at no charge for the Holiday Programme.

What is the ratio of staff to children during trips off-site?

Due to the increased risk of off-site activities, we have a ratio of 1:8. This may vary based on the activity and risk.

If there is no Kowhai Kids Club at my child’s school, can they attend a Kowhai Kids Club Holiday Programme?

Yes, we welcome children from any school at our sites!

We are proud to be completely industry compliant and officially accredited by MSD. In addition, we have our own internal compliance framework and systems, in-depth staff training and policies and procedures protocols

Approved accreditor for WINZ subsidies

We understand childcare can be expensive for families. By maintaining accreditor status, caregivers have the option of applying for WINZ subsidies. Eligibility and potential savings depends on levels of income against the WINZ subsidy framework. Our onsite team and Administrators are ready and able to help parents with WINZ applications.

Health and safety protocols are core to Kowhai Kids Club

Our robust procedures, regular staff training and systems for logging and maintaining incident records help keep your children safe on site. Our staff have learnt how to prevent, recognise and respond to abuse through appropriate training with Child Protection agencies. Emergency evacuation and other drills are conducted in site, regularly.

Highly skilled and dedicated staff

Staff working at a Kowhai Kids Club programme have a ‘duty of care’, meaning all possible care is taken to ensure the well-being of all children. We believe in the development of our staff as well as the children. Staff to Child ratios are a minimum of 1:10 at all times. For higher risk activities (such as offsite trips), ratios are dependent on the environment and vary between 6 – 10 children per staff member.
